3rd place in KSC Endurance Race

Recently, I participated in a go-kart endurance race organized by Kelab Shell Cyberjaya (KSC).
This was my 1st time competing in an endurance go-kart race....
The race was held in Speedway PLUS Karting Circuit, located at USJ Rest & Restaurant Area along ELITE PLUS Highway, USJ Subang Jaya
Here is how the track looks like :-

Track Length: 1,070 meters
Width: 10 meters

So since its an endurance race, per-team we had 3 drivers. The length of the endurance race was 45 minutes, so each driver basically had to drive 15 minutes each.

Not easy I tell ya...very demanding physically and mentally... and just like F1 we needed to plan our pit stops right and choose who goes out 1st and etc...<--- just like F1! yeahh right!

So we decided that the heaviest driver should go 1st... Since the logic was that as the race goes on, the kart will eventually get lighter (less fuel) and with the lighter weight driver on board ... it'll mean quicker lap times for us.

And NO...I wasn't the 1st driver in case you're wondering...

So, with the strategy all in placed... all we needed to do was drive the kart like we stole it! Was actually my 1st time karting in this track too...I've never driven in this track before this and we won 3rd place! wooohoooo....

So here are some pics of the event

The line up of the karts that were being used

This is me....Michael Schumacher in the making!

Notice the NISMO T-Shirt that I'm wearing...adds aother 50 horses! yeaahhhh

Bangkok Trip

Remember back in April when I blogged about Air Asia's free seats...and how I managed to book free tickets to bangkok!
Oh well see how time flies! So its not too far to plan your holidays ahead of time, especially if you want them Air Asia ticket cheap!
So the day came when me, li-hsia, my mom, my dad and aunty Cecilia all went for a holiday in Bangkok.
Bangkok was definately a trip to remember... and I actually had planned it all out! Where to go, where to eat...where to shop....shop....and more shopping.

This is us in the big Toyota van that we hired to take us to the hotel. Nice van, I'm not sure what they call it there but it is as big as the Toyota Alphard!

It took us about 45 minutes to the hotel. Our hotel was quite strategically located, just about 3 minutes walk away from Nana station (Sky Train).

Immediately after checking in...we headed for the shopping malls! Our first destination was the MBK Plaza... Was recommended to visit that place if you wanted cheaper stuff. Something like Sungai Wang/Imbi Plaza style... I didn't take much photos cause we were busy walking....eating...walking...

MBK plaza to me was so so... but many many things to see...I tell you if you wanted to buy handphones, there is a floor full of handphone shops! So many...I didnt really check out the prices but I think its about the same price over here. But what caught my eyes was that they were selling unlocked iPhone...which goes for around 2xxx baths.

Ohh well... no budget for phone right now. So, while we were in MBK plaza we actually bumped into a University lecturer, who was so kind enough to provide us some tips and guide on what we should buy in Bangkok. And so our fun began, he recommended that in Thailand we need to buy Thai made products! I like this guy, very patriotic about his country... And he goes on telling us that Thai Silk and Thai jewellery is the best!

And here we are buying jewellery...

As you can see I was so excited... literally sitting at the edge of my seat watching mom buying jewellery...

Well not quite...actually

After the jewellery session we headed for more shopping.....Siam Paragon, Central World, Erawan, and several others.... All located in the same area. The food court in those shopping complexes are nice, almost all the food there is so tasty.

Tuk tuks are great way to move around, seriously its much faster then taking a taxi. They only charge 200baths...which is RM2. =)

So, to sum it all up the rest of the days in Bangkok was shopping and more shopping. One thing for sure, is that this city does not sleep! It operates 24/7, literally. There are night markets if you wanted to do more shopping...makan stalls everywhere.... and of course many other attractions which I won't mention here. =)

One thing for sure is...I'll be back... Here are more pictures of the trip

DIY : Installing the K&N filter

1. This is the picture of my engine. Obviously step number ONE is open your bonnet! hehehe
Notice how clean it is...clean on the outside...clean on the inside too!
.
2. Un-hook the clips on the air filter box. Notice the red cirles on the pic, it shows you the location of those clips.

Four Clips all together...sorry the red circles are pretty hard to see....

More pics on how to un-clip those hooks...pretty easy.

3. Gently lift up the upper box by using your thumb. Now the stock filter can be removed by sliding it out to the side.

Notice the strong muscular thumb...

This is how the stock air filter looks like after approximately 4500++ KMs. Quality is not bad for a paper type filter!

4. Remove the K&N filter from its box. And tear open the plastic coverings.

Comparison between K&N filter and stock filter.

5. Lift up the upper box again. Notice how i used my thumb to lift it from the side. Slide in the K&N filter.

Notice it fits in so nicely...

6. Make sure the filter sits nicely on its place. Clip back on the 4 clips as shown above. Make sure that the air filter box is sealed properly.

DONE!

Things you need...

  1. Index fingers... to pry open the clips.
  2. A strong muscular thumb....to lift up the filter box.

5000 KM Service

Time to send my car for it's 5000km service. Amazing how fast the mileage clocks in...

So far no major complains with the car. I only had a problem with the immobilizer and the central locking switch panel which wasn't working. But that was sorted out during the 1st service. However, to my dismay....my central locking system somehow doesn't lock when i use the remote controller to lock my doors.

Ohh well.... got to get that sorted out tomorrow at Tan Choong service centre. There is also this weird vibrating noise whenever I go through small bumps..... Hope they're able to get this sorted out.

Anyway... This is going in after the 5000 km service

Notice it prints "Designed to Increase Horsepower & Acceleration" ....wooohoooo Horsepower!!!<--- that's what the Sentra needs and lots of it!

K&N Air Filter - Part No: 33-2031-2

Since its time for service, I thought I might as well get the car some decent Oil. The 1st service Tan Choong recommends that we stick to Castrol Mineral Oil. Which is fine when breaking in the engine, since you're not suppose to rev the car anyways...

So after 5000km....its time for some Castrol Fully Synthetic Oil! Ohh yeahhh...the sound of that makes me tingle...

I got me this :-

Emerge KL

What can I say....emerge KL as expected was mind blowing good. Ever since I've been to the one in Singapore, I knew that there is something more than just the music, more than just the celebrities, the fashion shows, all the talents, the performance...I mean all of that was good! but the real difference here is the presence of God! One touch from Him is enough to change your life forever...

Anyway, here are some of the pictures of the event....

Shoe design competition.....impressive right? really creative...
